Bertelsmann becomes a stock corporation.

The establishment of a stock corporation has been considered for about a decade. Now, as the lines of business are being expanded, the time has arrived for a new form of incorporation: Bertelsmann AG is founded / is entered in the company register on July 1, 1971. Reinhard Mohn’s intent is to safeguard the company’s long-term continuity, independently of the family. The prescribed form of governance and management for stock corporations fits the rapidly growing company, which is developing more and more of an international footprint. The new options for raising capital are another strong argument in favor of becoming a stock corporation.
